Are you ready to unleash your creativity and craft beautiful butterfly wings? In this 2½ hour workshop, you'll learn from the talented Polymer Clay artist Gill Cosford from Gill's Clay Creations.
Gill will guide you step-by-step through the magical 'caning' technique, where you'll create intricate butterfly wings just like a stick of rock! This workshop is perfect for making stunning jewellery or decorating a variety of objects once baked. You will also have a choice of colours to choose from.

What You'll Learn:
· The basics of working with Polymer Clay and the Fimo brand
· How to condition the clay for optimal use
· Creating a beautiful blended sheet (skinner blend)
· Making a simple 'bulls eye' cane with ease
· Using a pasta machine to make flat sheets
· Hand-rolling tubes of clay like a pro
· Reducing the cane into various sizes for different projects
· Safe use of blades and tools
· Baking Fimo clay to perfection
· Assembling your jewellery pieces once they are baked
What You'll Take Home:
· An instruction leaflet filled with images and inspiration
· A pair of earrings and a pendant, ready to wear and show off, as I will be bringing my portable oven with me!!
· A tray of your other amazing creations to bake at home and continue
crafting at your leisure
· Full instructions on how to bake and assemble your jewellery pieces. You will also take home some extra jewellery findings to complete your projects.

This workshop is suitable for beginners

The venue is the historic Butcher Works Gallery, 72, Arundel Street, S1 2NS. The gallery is situated through the archway to the left of the All Good Stuff shop and will be signposted.

Butcher Works, a listed restored cutlery factory, is a 5 minute walk from Sheffield station.
-
There are plenty of car parks and some metered parking nearby.
-
Tea and coffee etc will be available.
-
The venue is on the ground floor, is step free, with level access from the street.

Toilet facilities are available
-
All tools, equipment and clay is provided.
-
You will need a box or a flat bottomed bag to carry your creations home with you.
-
This is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16, due to the sharp blades involved.

Doors will be open from 10.15am
-
From 1pm till 3pm there will be a 'Meet The Maker' session, where members of the public are invited to come along and chat with Gill about her work. There will be an opportunity to purchase some of her wonderful clay creations, jewellery and cards.
